Artist Pam Turczyn has been spending an inordinate amount of time in the company of trees over the past decade. She has developed deep relationships with them in both rural Woodstock and urban Brooklyn, NY. Trees specializing in fields including prayer, communication and partnership, among others, have educated, healed and inspired her. Her art practice now incorporates close collaboration with trees in the creation of Painted Prayers. She, also, writes a column for NY Spirit entitled “Urban Biophilia: the Tree Diaries.” which encourages city dwellers to engage with nature in a deeply spiritual way. Many of her articles describe her explorations with trees. Her lively Facebook group, The Tree Diaries, provides a forum for tree communicators to share their experiences.
